Lemang Dijo Programme
The Lemang Dijo Programme is a redesigned and strengthened Government agricultural support initiative. The programme aims to enhance household food security, improve agricultural productivity, and promote sustainable farming practices among smallholder farmers.
The programme is implemented by the Government of Botswana in collaboration with the National Development Bank of Botswana (NDB).
Programme Components
Under the revised Lemang Dijo Programme, the subsidy component for fencing and tractors has been discontinued. The programme now consists of the following two components:
1. Grants (Input and Service Support)
2. Seasonal Agricultural Loans
Grant Support (Input and Service Subsidy)
Government provides 100% grant support for crop production services and inputs covering up to one (1) hectare per farmer, with a total value of P4,400.00 per hectare.
The grant covers:
• Tillage services (ploughing, harrowing, and planting)
• Pesticides
• Shelling and threshing
• Fertilizers
• Beehive and bee colony for integrated livelihood support
Grant Breakdown per Hectare

| Ploughing | 1,045.00 |
| Planting | 495.00 |

In addition, farmers will receive fertilizers at a rate of four (4) bags per hectare, provided as part of the grant package.
Seasonal Loan Component
The seasonal loan component remains unchanged and continues to be offered under the same terms and conditions that applied previously. These loans are intended to support additional seasonal production needs beyond the grant-supported hectare. Loan applications are processed through the National Development Bank of Botswana in line with existing agricultural lending requirements.
Programme Administration
The Lemang Dijo Programme is administered through the Temo Crop Management System (CMS), which utilizes existing farmer data already captured in the system.
All participating farmers and service providers are required to:
• Be registered on the Temo Crop Management System (CMS)(Loans, Grants and service Providers)
• Apply for the Grants through CMS and Department of Crop Production(Ministry of Lands and Agriculture)
• Generate Seasonal Loans cropping plan though CMS and Department of Crop Production(Ministry of Lands and Agriculture)
• Apply for Seasonal Loans through NDB(with approved Cropping Plan from Department of Crop Production)
• Fully comply with the NDB Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements before participating in any programme transactions
Transition of Discontinued Components
As part of the programme restructuring, the fencing and supplementary irrigation components have been phased out. All previously approved applications under these components have been compiled by the coordinating office and submitted to the National Development Bank of Botswana for further processing in line with applicable arrangements.
